The Bilston Partnership Youth Football League (BPYFL) was founded in 1999 to cater for teams in the Black Country and surrounding areas, and from just over 40 teams in its foundation year it can now boast a membership of about 300, making it one of the largest youth leagues in the Midlands. It is affiliated to the Staffordshire County FA.

The aim of the league from the outset was to remove the elitism and bureaucracy that was encountered elsewhere, and to allow youngsters of all abilities to play football and to achieve success whatever their ability. A partnership was established with Bilston FE College (now City of Wolverhampton College) and Bilston Town Football Club, one of the longest-established non-league clubs in the country. In the last year these links have not only been re-affirmed but strengthened. BPYFL teams now have the opportunity to use the brand new training facilities at Wolverhampton College at a discounted rate, and many have taken up this option, while 2010 has seen over 50 Cup Finals being played at Bilston Town’s Queen Street stadium, many of them under floodlights.

Child Protection has always been our priority, and from the outset the League has taken a very hard line over misbehaviour from the touchline, and especially in the support for our referees. Working with the Referees Association we regularly support training courses for referees and now also have a regular linesman’s course. We are probably the only youth league in the Midlands, if not the country, that can boast a fully qualified referee for every match - very often even at the last moment.

We pride ourselves on the approachability of the Management Committee, and don’t place restrictions on when we can be contacted - within reason !!!!! Member clubs can be pretty certain that there will usually be someone around to try and sort out difficulties and problems.

A unique feature of the BPYFL is its charity fundraising and at every age-group there is at least one Charity Cup (but usually more) Competition. All the proceeds go to local charities, and in recent years these have included:

Penn Hall Special School

The Cystic Fibrosis Association

Acorns Children’s Hospice

The Air Ambulance Service

Green Park Special School
