The Under 10 Mini Soccer is played by youngsters in School Years 4 and 5. Some of
the teams are Under 9 (Year 4) and some are Under 10 (Year 5). Many are a mixture
of both age-groups.
All matches are 30 minutes long . Most weeks teams will play two matches - giving
them an hour of soccer, the maximum allowed under FA rules.
All matches are played at a fully-supervised central venue, the Jennie Lee Centre,
with at least two co-ordinators on the site throughout the day. Strict rules are
enforced regarding spectator conduct and all clubs are issued with copies of a Code
of Conduct to be issued to all supporters. Because the site is private property the
league has the power to ban spectators who do not conform to the Code.
The season is divided into two portions - the Autumn League (September to November)
and the Spring League (January to May), although these dates are variable depending
on the weather. In the Autumn League teams are randomly placed in a division, and
in the Spring League they are seeded according to ability. In the period between
the two leagues there is a League Cup competition, played between all the clubs on
a straight knock-out basis, and a Charity Cup Competition in which teams are grouped
on ability and play on a round-robin basis, with the top two teams playing in a Cup
Final. All the Cup Finals (five in the 2009 / 10 season) are played at Bilston Town
FC.
